Hostel Folsom is located in the beautiful countryside and mushroom forests of South West Värmland.
The building, a renovated school opened as a hostel in the summer of 1997.
With its 10 rooms it can host 24 guests.
The hostel has:
- 1 single room,
- 3 bunkbed rooms for 2 persons,
- 1 family room for 3 persons,
- 3 double rooms and
- 2 family rooms for 4 persons.
- 1 big kitchen and a livingroom
Blomskog is full of things to see:
- Climb the path to the "Borgås Man", a well-known Blomskog symbol for a fantastic view with a good picnic spot. The man has been joined by a "stone hag" who stands guard on the other side of the valley. (accessible by a marked trail.)
- Amerikabrevet: A community play which will be performed every summer on the first weekend in July.
- The famous white moose is wandering around in the forests of Blomskog.
Blomskog is full of things to do:
- Canoe, fish and enjoy the beautiful nature in the easily accessible lakes and Dalslands channel.
- All weather fishing at one of the many lakes near the hostel.
- Pedal a rail trolley (dressin) between Bengtsfors and Årjäng. 52 km of breath-taking scenery.
- Canoeing and bicycling are great ways to discover Western Värmland's beautiful nature. Canoe rental as well as mountainbike rental is possible. Ask at arrival.
- Swimming is available at a shallow sand beach, just 3 km from the hostel and at nearby lakes.
- Golfers will enjoy "Svensby Lake's" 18-hole golf course. 10 km east of Årjäng.
- Racing and horse enthousiasts will enjoy the harness racing track and the Nordic Trotting Museum.
- Shoppers and handicraft enthusiasts don't want to miss the mid-september Årjängs market.
- The Norwegian border is close and daytrips to Oslo are possible.
